- October 5 – Marjorie Purdy - Keyboard Connection for Kids: Level I
- Teaching Beginner and Early Elementary Technique (BCRMTA Grant) $5 cost for Abbotsford members, $10 for everyone else – cash or cheques
- November 2 – Marjorie Purdy - Keyboard Connection for Kids: Level II
- Teaching Late Elementary and Intermediate Technique (BCRMTA Grant) $5 cost for Abbotsford members, $10 for everyone else – cash or cheques
- December 7 – Luncheon – Venue TBA - Date
- January 11 – Recovery room – Festival updates.
- February 1– Music Performance Anxiety with Catherine Bundt (BCRMTA Grant) $5 cost for Abbotsford members, $10 for everyone else – cash or cheques
- March 1 – TBA (possibly a Red Leaf composer)

2 – Budget – what to do – our expenses exceed our income
We have two main expenses – the website and the Canada Music Week Recital – as well as office expenses, food costs for meetings (coffee machine supplies) and social expenses (baby, condolence, retirement)
Expenses:
Website – total $605
- website hosting - $200
- website updates - $300 (we should point out that this would cost us $1,000 - $1,500 if we hired someone to do this)
- Smugmug - $85
- Domain - $20
CMW – total $575
- venue - $225
- medals - $225
- refreshments - $75
- Kahoots game - $50 prizes
Total Expenses - $1180
Income:
25 members @$32 branch fee = $800 . . .so we are running at a yearly deficit of -$380
- to cover the deficit and contingencies we voted unanimously to raise the branch rates to $50
3 – Hilda 60-year member- first BCRMTA member to achieve this – she is hoping to come next meeting when we will present her with a special certificate and pin from BCRMTA
4 – Festival – April 29 to May 7th, Honors Concert May 12th, Sunday - we don’t anticipate needing all the days, but this gives us flexibility in case we need them - we hope to combine the Honors Concert with a 20th Anniversary celebration which would feature several former festival winners in the concert
5 – Chair Positions

- Refreshments – Adele (2 people needed for refreshments for workshops)

6 – CMW
- Date – November 16, 2018 Booked and paid – PLC
- MC -
- Theme – CFMTA has a Branching Out event – to raise money for a community group – they will donate $100 to the branch
- we would like to raise money for ‘inasmuch Community Society’ – a local transition house for refugee claimants – we will take an offering at the recital
- we will be sending out some information about this organization so that you can be informed and perhaps raise some money in your studio – if you have a good idea for a
- studio fund raiser – please send it to Jocelyn Dyck then she can send it to everyone

7 – STA survey
BCRMTA is hoping to upgrade the requirements of being a Student Teacher Auxiliary
Member to make them more current. We discussed various ways to make the expectations clearer and
more realistic
8 – Chilliwack Symphony Orchestra has a Piano Extravaganza concert October 13 @ the Chilliwack Cultural Center, and October 14 @ the Matsqui Centennial Theatre. These concerts feature Ewa Telega and Betty Suderman as well as young pianists – check out the posterat:https://chilliwacksymphony.com/concerts-tickets/ - you’ll recognize some of the faces!
